She enjoys mixing traditional mediums like watercolor and goauche with graphic design to create bespoke designs for invitation suites and day-of paper goods. Margaret finds inspiration in midcentury design, handmade touches, and credits The Royal Tenenbaums for her company's namesake, Margo.
A Collection of Designs by Dear Margo
One of my favorite projects was a stationery suite for a wedding in Malibu. When the bride and I met she didn’t have much in mind except for liking my watercolor maps and loving the color yellow. From there, I dreamed up different Malibu-themed icons (palm tree, lemon, sun, waves) and they were used across the suite as a small and large-scale pattern, bullet points, etc. For the wedding map, I utilized funky touches like sea salt in the paint for a foamy surf effect, Wes Anderson-esque dotted map lines, and a Malibu coastline peppered with yellow blooms. It turned out to be a really beautiful, vibrant suite that I love.
