Maggie Stephenson: Illustrator & Cover Artist of Issue 06 — Create & Thrive

Polish-German illustrator Maggie Stephenson creates abstract, shape-driven work that turns emotion, nature, and everyday moments into something quietly powerful — and we couldn't imagine a more perfect artist for our Summer "Create & Thrive" issue.

Based in Jacksonville, Florida, Maggie is a Polish-German illustrator whose abstract, shape-driven style has graced editorial pages, lifestyle brands, and hotel walls across the world. Her clients span continents. Her influence spans mediums. But what makes her work feel different from so much of what fills our feeds? It's the intention behind it.

Art as a Way of Processing the World

Maggie doesn't set out to make beautiful things for beauty's sake. Her work is personal — rooted in the seasons of her own life, the emotions she's moving through, and the time she spends quietly observing the world around her.

"Illustration is a way for me to process my inner world and make sense of different seasons in life, good or bad," she told us. "Some pieces feel more introspective, others lighter and more relaxed — just like life itself."

That balance between emotional depth and playfulness is something you feel immediately when you look at her work. There's a softness to it. A sense of calm. And it's no accident.

Nature as a Creative Reset

Maggie is intentional about stepping away from screens — not as a luxury, but as part of her practice. A walk outside. Coffee in the backyard. Birds. Foliage. The kind of small, grounding moments that most of us rush past without noticing.

"When I come back to my work, I bring a lot of that with me," she says. "Nature naturally finds its place in my illustrations."

It shows. Her work has a breath to it — an organic, unhurried quality that feels increasingly rare in a world of fast content and trend-chasing.

This is Create & Thrive

Issue 06 is our Summer issue — and Create & Thrive isn't just a theme. It's a reminder that building a creative life and a thriving one aren't two separate things. Maggie's work, and her story, embodies that completely.

Our cover feature, Finding Form and Feeling, goes deeper — her process, her philosophy, tips for aspiring artists and the conversation we think you'll want to read twice.

We think you're going to love this one.
