Warm & Inviting Must-Haves

Rugs and window treatments — people seriously underestimate them. Window treatments are essential. They’re not just for privacy, they also help regulate temperature and improve acoustics. Same goes for rugs. Is your house loud and echoey? Rugs. Are your dogs scratching up your wood floors? Rugs. These are practical, impactful investments that do a lot of heavy lifting while also adding warmth and texture to a space.

I think lighting is so important to shaping the mood of a room. Whether it be a table lamp with a linen shade or the afternoon sun glowing through sheer curtains, these quiet moments give a space softness and a sense of calm that I think makes a room inviting.

The Transformative Power of Color

Color, like lighting, has the power to completely transform a space. We recently painted a client’s living area a soft blue-green, and the change was immediate — it brightened the entire home and somehow made the outdoor landscaping feel even greener. It changed the way light moved through the home. It’s amazing how the right color can shift the energy of a space.

YELLOW

I’ve always loved yellow. My childhood bedroom was painted a deep mustard. Yellow is the definition of warmth, and honestly, it just makes my eyeballs happy. In college, I remember learning about J.M.W. Turner and how there was a cartoon made about him slapping a layer of yellow on everything he painted. I totally get it; I try to do the same. There’s just something about yellow that feels like lived-in joy.
